Artist Statement

I create abstract paintings built from layered color, shifting transparencies, and organic forms inspired by stones and weathered natural shapes. The compositions balance calm with structure, with forms that emerge, recede, and overlap.

This way of painting helps me stay connected to my most precious resource — my memories. Over time, the finer details of my recollection grow blurry, but the color and atmosphere remain powerfully etched in my mind. When I think of an important place or experience, what comes back most clearly is a feeling and the colors I associate with it. Painting lets me hold onto that emotional echo without forcing it into a literal description.

The work is also a way of resisting perfectionism. The irregularity of natural forms serves as a reminder — what is lasting and meaningful is rarely exact. My paintings celebrate memory as I actually experience it: fragmentary, atmospheric, and deeply felt.
